Project Management

Our NEPEAN Longwall project managers are given responsibility for the project, reporting monthly to the NEPEAN senior management team on the tracking of the project against its targets. This ownership provides project managers the control and accountability over the project outcomes. The management team is well informed and provides guidance based on the global experience of the NEPEAN portfolio of businesses. Our project managers are leaders within the business, and they have the trust and support of the business to deliver their project effectively and efficiently.

We have followed the lead provided by the underground coal sector over the last 20 years and utilise the full range of best practice methods of project management. Our Project Management Processes and Phases are based around the PYMBOK knowledge areas, and all projects are executed by the processes and procedures that we have developed over the years based around this. Your project team will include engineering and technical staff as well as access to our international supply network to complement the skills and experience required to deliver your scope of work. NEPEAN Longwall establishes open and transparent relationships with our customers and with our supply chain. We work with stakeholders so that success for all parties is achieved. Our project managers guide our experienced overseas suppliers through the latest requirements of the local industry and assist in directing the best outcomes for design, quality and delivery. This continual investment of our experience in our stakeholders leads to constant improvements in our products, and we achieve some remarkable advances in lead times. Critical project decisions are made within the business unit which facilitates rapid response and alleviates customer frustration – we recognise the time-critical nature of longwall projects and respond accordingly. Within the business unit, we have a well developed set of tools to support each project manager from Planning (Gantt Charts, Project Execution Plans, Scopes of Work), engineering (Mandatory Drawings, Specifications, FEAs), risk management (Risk Assessment, Design Risk Assessment), Inspection and Test Management (Inspection and Test Plans, Inspection sheets, Factory Acceptance Testing) and Delivery (Delivery documentation, VED).
